Assistant

This built-in Assistant helps you to add live product filter widgets to your shop. It will offer several widgets that it can add to the chosen sidebar.

The Assistant will show you which filters are already present in sidebars and it will suggest to add others that have not yet been added.

  1. Select a sidebar to which you want to add live filters. In most cases, this would be a sidebar that is visible on your shop pages.
  2. Choose which live filters should be added to it. The Assistant will offer you several entries which we will mention below.
  3. Click Add selected to have the Assistant add one instance of each widget to the sidebar.

The Assistant adds filters with a default configuration that you can later customize. You will find the widgets added to the sidebar on your WordPress Dashboard under Appearance > Widgets.

  • Product Filter – Sale : This allows customers to limit the selection of products to those which are on sale.
  • Product Filter – Reset : This provides a facility that allows to reset all applies filters.

As mentioned above, the Assistant will add instances of the chosen filters that use a default configuration. You might want to review and customize these later. For example, you could enable thumbnails for a product attribute to make the choices more intuitive and visually appealing for your customers.

The Assistant will not offer to add the live Product Search Field widget, as the Assistant focuses on live filters that affect the contents of the shop page. To add the Product Search Field widget to a sidebar, simply go to Appearance > Widgets and look for the Product Search Field widget.

In case it isn’t already obvious — you can add any of these filters by yourself without the Assistant. You can add them directly from the Appearance > Widgets section of the WordPress Dashboard or by using the Customizer under Appearance > Customize.

Please refer to the Widgets section of this documentation for details on the settings for each filter.
