Smart Coupons provide a powerful, “all-in-one” solution for gift certificates, store credits, discount coupons, and vouchers extending the core functionality of WooCommerce coupons.
This doc article explains how you can restrict usage of a coupon to country, state, city or zip code.
This is an interesting feature as it restricts the usage of a coupon to a particular location. You can target your promotions based on your customer’s location.
How to configure ↑ Back to top
- Create a new coupon or open an existing one
- Go to the tab “Usage restrictions“
- Look for the field “Address to look in“. Here you need to choose whether you want to validate the coupon based on customer’s billing address or the shipping address
- Then look for the field “Locations“. In this field, you can set country, state, city & zip code.
- Publish or save the coupon.
Country, state, city & zip code is not available ↑ Back to top
By default, in this field, you will be able to search & select a country. If you don’t find a country, state, city & zip code, you can easily add it. After adding custom value for the country, state, city & zip record once, these records will be available for selection from next time onward.
Single custom value ↑ Back to top
To add a single custom value for the country, state, city or zip code, just type the name & hit the “Enter” button from the keyboard. Hitting the “Enter” button will add the custom country, state, city or zip code to the database for future selection & it’ll also add it to the field.
Multiple custom values ↑ Back to top
To add multiple custom values for the country, state, city & zip code, either start typing those values or copy & paste them in this field. Make sure that those values are separated by a pipe ‘|’. For example: ‘Washington|California|Chicago|New York’. After entering the value, hit the “Enter” button. All the entered values will be added to the database for future use & to the field as well.
Note: At first the coupon will be applied successfully to the cart. It’ll be validated for the location on the checkout page only after entering the values for the Country, state, city or zip code.
