Petshop is a child theme for
Storefront, the official WooCommerce theme. It offers an organic, friendly and character design that’s great for stores selling pet goods.
Petshop is a Storefront child theme, so you first need to install and set up Storefront and then Petshop.
- Download Storefront for free at Storefront theme file.
- Download Petshop from your WooCommerce.com account at My Downloads.
- On your website, go to Appearance > Themes and click the Add New button.
- Click Upload to upload the Storefront .zip file from step 1.
- Go to Appearance > Themes to Activate.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for the Petshop theme from step 2.

Once installation is complete and the subscription is activated for Petshop, it’s time to configure and set up your themes.

There are no specific image size requirements for Petshop, but image sizes used on our demo are:
- Catalog Images: 300 x 300 px
- Single Product Image: 600 x 600 px
- Product Thumbnails: 180 x 180 px

It’s possible to import
WooCommerce Dummy Data to populate your site with demo products as a starting point.
Note: We do not supply exact images seen on our Petshop demo in the WooCommerce Dummy Data due to copyright restrictions. WooCommerce Dummy Data comes with our own unique unrestricted images that can be redistributed as product import data.
Petshop applies specific styles to elements such as buttons and the header layout, so these settings are removed from Storefront Designer to avoid confusion.
They are pulled from the three first top-level (parent) categories arranged on the product categories screen in your Dashboard. You can drag and drop categories to rearrange.
Install the
Storefront Product Sharing plugin.
Install the
Storefront Footer Bar plugin. Add a text widget to the newly created widget region via Appearance > Widgets.
Use our
Storefront Parallax Hero extension.
If you don’t want to display content, don’t add any. To hide the title, use
Title Toggle for Storefront to hide the page title on any page across your site. Alternatively use
Homepage Control to toggle the display of this component.

Many WordPress tutorials recommend inserting code snippets in a child theme’s functions.php file. This ensure that you’re always able to update the parent theme without losing changes.
Because Petshop is already a child theme, you are unable to do this. Any changes added to Petshop functions.php file will be lost when updating. Instead, we recommended that you add code snippets to a customization plugin. We’ve created one to do just this. Download
