When attempting to sign-up for a Stripe account using the same email address used to sign-up to WooCommerce Payments, you may receive the following error:
An account already exists with this email. If you’d like to create a new Stripe account with the same email address, sign in and follow the instructions to manage multiple accounts.
While a Stripe Express account does exist to power your WooCommerce Payments account, it is not possible to login to Stripe.com with that account directly.
Instead, you need to access the Stripe Express dashboard via your WordPress site’s dashboard.

Because it is not possible to sign-up for a Stripe account with the same email address used with WooCommerce Payments, to create a new Stripe account, you need to either:
- Change the email on the Stripe account connected to WooCommerce Payments; or
- Use a different email address for the new Stripe account.

With Gmail and many other email systems, the easiest way to create a unique email address for your new Stripe account is to add +stripe
to your existing email.
For example, if your email address is name@example.com
, you can use name+stripe@example.com
.

To update the email used on the Stripe account connected to WooCommerce Payments:
- Login to the Stripe Express dashboard with these instructions.
- Change the email on the account to something unique, like
name+wcpay@example.com
. - Sign-up for the new Stripe account with your existing email.
