Setting up the featured slider ↑ Back to top

The homepage featured slider can be used to display noteworthy blog posts – this is because it is tag based. Once you have specified the tag to use, make sure you add that tag to the blog posts you want to feature. It will display the title of the post, the excerpt, and the optional, but important, custom image which is the focal point of the panel.

You can configure the featured slider settings by going to: Fresh News > Settings > Homepage Slider:

Homepage Slider

Adding the tag to the post is important, as is specifying the image to use in the slide.  You can specify the image in the Fresh News Settings panel under the Post Editor:

Adding images to posts / Using the Image Resizer: ↑ Back to top

Background Information

Many of the different template pages within this theme uses an embedded image within a post when displaying the post to the user. This means that you need to add a custom image to a post should you wish to display the image with the post. If you decline to add an image to a post, it will not be displayed and won’t disrupt the theme in any way.

Our themes use a custom image resizing script (thumb.php) which will dynamically resize, crop & create an image in the appropriate size needed for the template.

Instructions:

  1. Go to: Post > Add New, and add your new post.
  2. Now scroll down to the Fresh News Settings panel below the Post Editor, and add your image
  3. Select the image crop alignment if you so desire – that will determine where it should crop the image from if it is bigger than the space provided for it in the template.
  4. Save your post and voila!
