You can confirm your theme and WooFramework version by going to: Appply > Framework

Activate Key ↑ Back to top

After installing your theme, activate the theme key by downloading and installing the WooCommerce Helper plugin. This will verify your site when contacting support and enable 2-click updates for quick theme upgrades.

Updating the theme

It is very important to ensure you have the latest version of your theme at all times. This is the best way to proactively troubleshoot issues on your site.

There are three menu locations included in this theme:

  • Primary Menu – This is the menu that sits below your logo.
  • Top Menu – This is the smaller menu area at the very top of the theme.
  • Footer Menu – This is the menu that sits between footer top and footer bottom.

Set Up The Header ↑ Back to top

The header in Appply consists of your logo or site title, two menu areas, and the option to show your carts content.

Custom Logo ↑ Back to top

To set a custom logo image go to:
Appply > Settings > General Settings > Quick Start > Custom Logo

  1. Upload your logo image by clicking on the Upload button.
  2. Upload your logo file. Usually a .png or .jpg
  3. Select Use this Image.
  4. Save All Changes in your settings.

Site Title and Tagline ↑ Back to top

You can optionally chose to display the Site Title and Tagline (Description) instead of a logo. To setup the Text Title and Description:

  1. Go to: Settings > General to setup the Site Title and Tagline.
  2. Go to: Appply > Settings > General Settings to enable the Site Title and Tagline by selecting the checkbox.
  3. Optionally set the font family, size and color.
  4. Optionally enable the Site Description by selecting the checkbox.
Please note: Enabling the Site Title option will override the Custom Logo. If you want the Custom Logo to display you must disable this option.

Show Cart In Header ↑ Back to top

To display a link to the cart in the main navigation:

  1. Go to: Appply > Settings > WooCommerce > General and select the checkbox.
  2. Save All Changes in your settings.

Set Up The Slider ↑ Back to top

Appply has a built in featured slider that uses the Slides custom post type for it’s content. The slider is positioned right beneath your sites logo and primary menu area.

To setup the slider go to:
Appply > Settings > Featured Slider > Slider Content

  1. Enable or disable the slider at the top.
  2. Choose the number of slides you want to show.
  3. Choose a slide group, if using our WooSlider plugin, to display on the homepage.
  4. Save All Changes in your settings.

To view additional featured slider settings go to:
Appply > Settings > Featured Slider > Slider Settings

To create a New Post for the slider go to:
Slides > Add New

Create a new slide to add it to your homepage slider, write your title, upload a Featured Image or embed video in the custom settings panel.
  1. Add a title and content in your slide post.
  2. Add a featured image.
  3. You can add a video directly to your content, or use the embed field.

In the homepage options you will find settings to control the Features, Homepage Content area, Testimonials, and an Introduction Message.

To enable or disable what you want to show on the homepage go to:
Appply > Settings > Homepage > Homepage Setup.

To display features on the homepage you need to install the Features by WooThemes plugin.

Once the plugin is installed you can set these options:

  1. Select the number of features to display.
  2. Set the title for the features section.

Homepage Content Area ↑ Back to top

The content area content type can either be set as a page of content or your most recent blog posts. We’ve opted to show our ‘About’ page in the demo.

Adding Page Content to the Homepage ↑ Back to top

To add page content to your homepage:

  1. Go to: Page > Add New.
  2. Add homepage title and content.
  3. Publish page.
  4. Go to: Appply > Settings > Homepage > Content Area > Page Content
  5. Set the Content Type to Page Content in the dropdown menu.
  6. Set the Page Content as your newly created page.
  7. To Show Sidebar on the homepage select the checkbox. The sidebar setting inherits the global layout, rather than the layout of the page selected. Please note the sidebar will only show if the content type is set to “Blog Posts”.
  8. Save all Changes.

Adding Blog Posts to the Homepage ↑ Back to top

To add blog posts to your homepage:

  1. Go to: Appply > Settings > Homepage > Content Area > Page Content
  2. Set the Content Type to Blog Posts in the dropdown menu.
  3. Set the number of blog posts to display.
  4. To Show Sidebar on the homepage select the checkbox.
  5. Save all Changes.

To exclude categories from displaying on the homepage:

  1. Go to: Appply > Settings > Layout > Category Exclude – Homepage
  2. Insert the category slugs to hide. The category slug can be found by going to Posts > Categories in the right Slug column.
  3. Save all Changes.

Testimonials ↑ Back to top

To activate Testimonials on your homepage you need to install the Testimonials plugin.

Once the plugin is installed you can set the options in Appply > Settings > Homepage > Testimonials:

  1. Select the number of testimonials to display.
  2. Set the title for the testimonials section.

Introductory Message ↑ Back to top

You can write a welcome message that will appear right above your footer by enabling it in your settings.

To set your introductory message go to:
Appply > Settings > Homepage > Introductory Message

Appply Button Styles ↑ Back to top

One last item to note here, Appply comes with two default styles if you are using the [ button ] shortcode. By default that shortcode will render the purple button you see in the introduction message and in the slider. You can easily create that green button as well by a little addition to your button shortcode. It ends up looking like this [ button color=”green” ]

Appply comes with two custom widgetized regions, one for the Homepage and one for the Right Footer.

Using A Widgetized Homepage ↑ Back to top

You can optionally utilize the Homepage Widget area to re-order your homepage display. To add widgets/re-order the homepage go to: Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard and drag widgets into the Homepage widget area in the right column.

If you’d like to display Features or Testimonials in this widget region, please use the dedicated widgets called Features and Testimonials respectively.

We’ve included one additional widget area in Appply, it is called Footer Right. It’s a nice little area to put a widget of your choice that, as the name says, appears in the right half of your footer. We’ve chosen to put our Subscribe & Connect widget there for the demo.
